The Carolina RallySport team of driver Matthew Johnson and co-driver Jeremy Wimpey repeated as Rally America Production GT National Champions with a dominating class win at the Lake Superior Rally in Michigan.

The 2007 Rally America season got off to a great start for the Hankook Carolina RallySport team with a PGT class win at the SnoDrift Rally in Michigan. Challenges and setbacks have played into the season since, and the Rally at Oregon Trails unfortunately added itself to the list of ‘unplanned outcomes’.
Carolina RallySport takes Two Wins In A Row (09/29/06)
For the fourth time in five rallies the Carolina RallySport Hankook Tire Rally team of Matthew Johnson and Kim DeMotte have come out on top. They now hold a commanding lead in the hard fought ProductionGT championship over class rivals Tanner Foust and Eric Langbein. With only two events left in the Rally America National Championship the team's 26 point lead makes them the odds on favorite for the 2006 PGT Championship ... but there are still two events left and anything can happen.

Hankook Tire driver Matthew Johnson won his first overall podium finish in his career at the Ojibwe Forests Rally in Northern Minnesota.
Top professional Rally teams are coming to Boston (6/28/06)
Rally America, The Maine Forest Rally, and The Team O’Neil Rally Center, along with The Rack Nightclub and Billiards at Faneuil Hall Boston, will be holding an autograph session and media reception on Wednesday July 19, 2006. Teams currently expected to attend are The Subaru Rally Team USA led by current Rally America points leader and X Games Gold Medalist, Travis Pastrana; Kenny Bartram, reigning freestyle motocross champion; Matt Iorio, defending North American Rally Champion; Tim Penasack, 2005 Rally America Eastern Region Production GT champion as well as Matthew Johnson one of the top national Production GT drivers. The autograph session and media reception will run from 4-7 pm on the grounds of The Rack nightclub and billiards club at 24 Clinton Street in Boston.

Final build begins
(9/30/04)
The freshly painted CarolinaRS WRX shell now sits in it's stable
for assembly. Fellow rally driver Andrew Havas, a friend and mentor to
Matthew, is making a trip down from New York to assist in the assembly.

Progress Report
(09/14/04)
The new Carolina RS rally car is coming along quickly in it's preparation
for the Lake Superior Rally in Michigan Oct 22-23. Krause
and England did a supurb job completing the roll cage and it's now
at Paragon in Raleigh having the body work done. It remains to be seen
whether the car will actually be finished in time. Matthew is working
feverishly all day each day at the body shop to get the time consuming
process of body work and paint sorted out. When asked, he said that if
the car comes out of the body shop by Friday Sept 24th he'll be able
to make the rally with a very basic rally car running in the Production
GT class. Watch this space for updates!
Acid Bath Complete

Acid stripping of the shell is complete and it now resides at Krause
and England in Raleigh having the seam welding completed and will

Subaru Stripping party a huge success!

The stripping took only 7 hours with 7 busy bodies pulling things apart.
CarolinaRS would like to send out tremendous appreciation to Andrew Frick,
Tex Wag, Eric Adams, Doug Becket, Kevin Hoff, Kacy Denning, Jamie Johnson,
Andy Pugh and additional thanks to the hosts, Brian and Erin King. Next
steps - Dipping the shell in acid, seam welding and cage installation.

Saturday, June 26th... pending sucessful re-title inspection on Thursday

The CarolinaRS WRX successfully passed its rebuild inspection
Thursday and the team will be moving forward with the full tear down
on Saturday. It's a 12 hour strip party, 12 hours to go from street car
to bare shell! |
